Is there a simple way to set a custom mp3 file as my SMS notification? I'm using "Ringtone Manager" to use MP3s as ringtones but can't work out a way to use an MP3 as an SMS tone.

You set the SMS tone within Sounds & Notifications:

Tap Start > Settings > Personal tap > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications tab. Then tap the down arrow next to the Event box and find "Messaging: New media message"

Then you can select different sound by tapping the down arrow in the next box. The tones you see in the list are located in the Pocket PC's Windows folder, so if there is a unique one you wish to use, you'll need to copy it there first.
