I think the x50 at least will se an upgrade since the garphics processor on the x50v still hasn't been used to its full potential without mobile D3D.

I wish I could share you optimism, but I would not count on an upgrade.

The X30 was new when WM03 SE came out and Dell chose not to offer the upgrade even after a lengthy petition was done.

EOL for the x30 is this april so they would be cutting it close. the x50 EOL is still more than a year away so there is a better chance of there being an upgrade.

EOL stands for end of life. thats when Dell will stop issuing updates to the x30 (in April). that doesn't mean that they will stop selling it, it means they will stop updating the ROM versions, etc.

End Of Life. In this case End Of Sale (EOS) might Be more correct. But you get the idea.

I never saw the EOL date for the X3i, I'm sure it was some time in 2004. I'm very happy with this ROM revision.

Based on past trends, I doubt we'll see an upgrade. I plan to purchase Dell's next PPC, which will most likely sport 2005. Even then, I'll most likely wait a few months after its release, to see what types of issues 2005 brings.

oh well that just stinks. THey havent made a rom upgrade in a while anyways though, it was EOL'd then anyways wasn't it? Im probably not upgrading, since it will cost me too much, and my high school im going to next year doesn't allow you to use them much (my middle school is just fine with them, I can use it in the middle of class (except one/two of them) and do whatever i want, i can even just go on the internet.

Is it possible to restore a PPC back to WM2003SE after an upgrade to WM2005? Just in case I didn't like it or if there are problems with it.

IF they allow the upgrade to WM 2005 in the first place, then yes. Dell has always offered an option to save the existing ROM whenever they have released a ROM upgrade in the past. Can't see why they would change that now. Unless WM 2005 somehow made it technically impossible.
