How are you a noob? You have almost 1,000 posts and you've been here since June 2004. By now I think you should know that dell probably wouldn't offer the update for the x50v (not to mention the pda you own, x30)

Best advice....don't plan on getting it. Then you won'y be disappointed when they announce they won't offer it.

I disagree - I think there will be an update and I think it will be free. For the X50v that is......

Most thought the same for the X3i as it was put out by Dell just a couple months before 2003SE was released.

I would love to be optimistic. But Dell's actions in the past have shown they will not offer this.

I doubt that it will be free. It is not Dell's software but Microsoft's and they do not give away free OS updates.

But I would be delighted to be proved wrong !

Of course the X3(i) didn't get it; they released the X30 (the same thing but with wm2003se) right as wm2003se came out! I really think there will be an upgrade for the X50v, as the graphics accelerator would benefic greatly from it (if the rumors are true).

Here we go again.

There's no profitable reason for Dell to release an update. And CERTAINLY no profitable reason to release a FREE update. Do they not teach economics anymore? Customer service, as the general public chooses to define it, does NOT exist anymore, so don't even try to play that card.

I will disagree with your whole comment. I think you can profit from selling an upgrade. Look at home many upgrades HP sold for older devices when PPC 2003 came out. It was sold for $30 each.

Customer service does exist. Dell has done a great job with me everytime I have called them. Above and beyond if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it will be free but I think they will offer it.

I don't think you read his comment. He said FREE update, not selling the update.

They should at least offer the update. My question is most of the programs we install now aren't alsways compatible with 2003se are they going to be just as biggy and flaky?
