Don't forget about the watching and waiting croud, when I purchse depends upon if I get direct confirmation from dell that they will upgrade the X50v, otherwise im waiting until they start shipping x50v's with the 2005 OS. Besides, it gives me time to get suitable funds to buy the x50v. :)

If the answer is no, you have no reason to stop loving it, just because you've heard a rumour about some other pda getting an update.

Even if the facts are true it will still be as great today as it was yesterday... So Smile and don't worry about it
I've had two PDA for the past 5 years. Now, its not a problem with me being an OS behind and yes I still love my x30 and dont regret buying it. BUT the thing is after approx. 2+ years I end up having to change to another PDA because the newer OS has better softwares (programs/games) that will run with it only. My x30 probably wouldnt be broken and I don't necessarily need those softwares BUT I do want to take advantage as much as possible my pda capabilities.

i've lived the past 3yrs on my old Sony Clie SJ30 and its still alive and kicking without any problems. I still use it too since I havent fully integrated to the PPC community. But if and only if I had OS5 I would have been able to do abit more with my sj30 :)

i'm torn on this issue...i want the new os (i'm too big of a techie not to...), but at the same time, it would be a problem for me to get it. see, i'm writing a huge program using embedded visual basic, which won't be supported by wm2005 (according to microsoft). i can't do the program in another language, due to the nature of my program (i had a discussion with some other members in the developers forum about this...). so that means i can't upgrade my OS until may of 2006 (when the project is due)! oh well...i like my axim just the way it is. if it's not broke, don't fix it, right? **sigh**

so everyone can tell me alllllll about it when they get it...and maybe i will get a NEW axim as a graduation present!

I just got a x50v, and i knew dell was gonna come out with some new device this fall and it looks like it is with ther new "media" pda. On a positive side, yes ill hold more stuff like videos and pictures and all that crap, on a bad side, it won't be solid state memory. With the new build in harddrives who knows what will happen with those pda's. Battery life will probably be worse then the current phones. (Yes my pda works longer then my phone. :))
Anyways, i quiet like my x50v, + with the new CF and SD cards comming out with over 4 gb of space, i quiet don't care about the new lineup of pda's at all. With all the new gadgets on the pda (phone + harddrives + etc) might as well cary those small sony vaio laptops.
wheeee, i feel a lot better letting this out.

This is old news too. Dell is in fact offering a free upgrade to anyone who buys an X50 from a few weeks ago until the upgrade comes out too.
