Very interesting new from brighthand, we hope for a wm2005 in our x50v:
- Axim x50v will last to 2006 in life cycle though x30 will discontinued.
- Dell will strongly support v50v.

Pretty disappointing to read this since I just got the x30 1 month back. :(
Does your x30 run any slower today? has it suddenly stopped working? Has it gained 50lbs of extra weight?
If the answer is no, you have no reason to stop loving it, just because you've heard a rumour about some other pda getting an update.
Even if the facts are true it will still be as great today as it was yesterday... So Smile and don't worry about it

And to those if you with X30s, if you think the transition for us with X50s to Windows Mobile 2005 (probably Q4 2005) will be smooth and flawless, you have another thing coming. The latest ROM release for the X50...A03 (i.e. third release), a full 6 months after the release of the device, FINALLY took care of a few of the problems that have hampered the device thus far, such as wi-fi/bluetooth memory leaks.
Your X30s, on ROM A05 are amazingly stable and will continue to be so...whereas there's going to be a painful process of dealing with problems for those people that upgrade X50s to Windows Mobile 2005...and then there's the possibility that Dell may abandon the project before coming up with a finalized ROM solving all the issues (as in what happened to the X5 Windows Media 2003 upgrade), and then perhaps remove the ability for X50 owners to even upgrade to 2005.
So, in the long run, you're in a pretty good place to be. It will be two years before there's software dedicated to only work with Windows Media 2005, and your X30 will continue to run any software faster than our X50s anyway.
Anyone else surprised that we haven't heard about a processor update for PPCs? I thought a 800 MHz would be hitting the market soon.
Man there are a lot of negative people around here.
I think people just don't want to get their hopes up.
there is the "a new software version came out and my Axim is now obsolete and will no longer work" crowd and there is the "Microsoft is releasing a new OS - I just KNOW that it's going to be released by Dell!" crowd.
Sometimes reality (even if it looks negative) is healthy.

I agree but here for the most part are people saying forget about it.
I like my Dell the way it is but I would be happy if Dell puts it out. Personally I think they will but I will not be heart broken if they don't. My X50v works great the way it is now.
