Doubtful that Dell will provide it, but not announced yet.
Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

Often OS are created and changed to work with a device commponents. If you add a native WM2005 to an X3 the PPC may not boot at all due to conflict or not properly configured components.
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

Correct...it's not like WIndows where you can install it on anything...think of it as a custom OS for a specific device...it's not "one size fits all". Like the v50v OS will NOT run on an x50mid just because it has different hardware.

The manufacturer (hp, dell, Asus...) takes the core OS (2003, 2003se, 2005) then they write ALL the drivers for their specific device (x30, x50, x50v), make a ROM, then they install it on their devices.

Imagine Windows XP coming with NO drivers whatsoever...you would have to write every single driver for every single component of your computer. If you upgrade RAM or a hard drive...new driver.

this is the only way to keep the OS relatively small.
