Probably because those are hack programs.

I hope the upgrade will come in no more than a month.
If I have to wait 4-6 months I will probably upgrade anyway!!!!!!!

i think it depends on the installed base... and if they offer the upgrade option, i don't think it will be for free... they will probably do what hp did before, where u pay $40 for the new os.

Avner, from what I've "heard" ;) there will be no hebrew support built in... So I guess we'll have to stick to our localization progs...

I really do not understand why people are so concerned or demand Dell upgrade us to new operating system made by another company. Such a commitment was never promised us when we bought our devices. No computer you purchase pledges a new OS everytime a new version comes out unless they say so when you purchase. I would imagine there will be one for the X50 series but probably at a upgrade price and not free. But if your system works, and the new one is really not all that impressive - and Dell keeps offering free new bug fixes for the current OS, why worry or fuss?

I don't believe any 'demands' have been made. Mobile OS's seem to be more frequently updated than home pc OS's.
As far as 'bug fixes', I
LAUGH
AT
YOU!

Are you insinuating that the maker of a product is NOT obligated to fix GLARING issues with said product?
I realize MS makes the OS, but MS does NOT sell an MS branded pocket pc. Dell IS responsible for 'bug fixes', and it would be a good business practice to offer upgrades to the OS when available to people that recently (no specific date in mind) purchase the product.

It's true that whether or not to provide an upgrade is completely at Dell's discretion, just as it's my choice whether or not my next pocket pc purchase is an HP instead.

And then you'll come back when they don't offer the upgrade to the next WM OS.

Face it guys, the days up OS upgrades are probably gone. MAYBE because of enhancements to VGA, Axim X50v owners *might* be able to upgrade, but if past history tells us anything, HP and Dell don't offer upgrades unless by default.

the point he's making is that the whole "screw Dell, I'm going to HP!" position is silly since last time neither HP nor Dell offered the upgrade.

Startir:

I cannot recall any other ppc maker offering two (2) system fixes in less than 5 months, and free. Call it obligation or anything you want. I call it better than most. :)
