You are trying to make me not upgrade just so I can prove you wrong aren't you?

Cheers, good call!

On the contrary, I fulfill that criteria but I'm not inclined to upgrade. Yes, I'm tempted but I've been burnt by Microsoft before. I'd rather wait and see before I upgrade. I'm inclined to say that I eventually will but perhaps not at the start.

I am tempted... nonetheless.

Unless it's $80 or something absurd I'll upgrade. It can't be a whole lot worse than WM2003se, which seems to be teetering right on the edge of "old PPC mentality" (i.e. PIM device with a movie player and some games) and "new PPC mentality" (i.e. full featured computer that fits in your pocket). I'm hoping that WM2005 will finally push these devices away from palm pilot status to true Pocket PCs. Don't get me wrong, WM2003se, or for that matter windows CE in general, is miles ahead of basic address book functionality, but I think (and hope) that WM2005 is when we really start seeing these things shine as the powerful little computers that they really are. VGA support from the get go (unlike the patch that SE is), 3D accelerator support and other nifty stuff like that are gonna be nice.

I'm going to upgrade immediately, regardless of price or compatibility/stability. It's new, so I have to, that's all there is to it. Come to think of it, I didn't really need a x50v in the first place, but I bought one anyway. You see, I'm the reason credit card companies are thriving. But after everything, I think Windows Mobile is the most half-assed operating system ever widely distributed for any personal computer platform (yes, even worse than pre-OSX Mac). The amount of utterly defective crap people put up with on these things is amazing, and its a shame to see such incredible hardware hindered by software that was developed as an afterthought. And it's the weirdest thing, I keep looking for that mobile os section of Windows Update, but just can't seem to find it...

I'm not upgrading. I read the 'review' on this site, and looked at the other screen shots and it doesn't offer enough for the hassle. I am also one of the ones who got burned on the A03 update, and ended up with a refurbed X50v from Dell w/ the A02 (and it's STAYING that way). Yes, I'm aware that these are two seperate and different issues, but my X50v runs perfectly for me just the way it is, and I'm not interested in changing it. If WM05 was a true 'major upgrade', then I'd consider it, but for what I've read about it so far, I'm not interested.

I doubt it. My Ax is stable and does everything I need it to right now - everything works fine the way it is. My attitude about it is simply "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Unless WM2K5 offers something incredible I'll probably stay put until I wear this box out and replace it.

I'll upgrade. Will Dell continue ROM upgrades on WM2003 after 05 is released?

I will probably upgrade, but I will wait a week or two until several people do it, as I did for the ROM upgrades. Even if it costs. Just have to keep up with the Jonses'

ActiveSync 4, which is required for devices running WM2005, has lost the option to sync over a network, wireless or otherwise. Dealkiller.

I just hope that when I do upgrade, it doesn't break the wifi/bluetooth issue again!
