the last thing i want is a BSOD when i need to dial 911.
"excuse me, mister murderer can you hold for one minute,
my phone has to reboot"
Sibian/linux/palm are fine OS for the phones not M$.
i mean peeps are all in awe with this convergence stuff,
same applies to VOip, if you need to call 911, you can't rely
on the internet nor M$.
good god i need a chill pill, stat !
err this is an upgrade for the X50 series we're talking about here. If you need to call 911 you better use a phone - just thought you might like to know that now

i kinda knew i was openning myself for some flaming,
i wasn't answering the question ask for one thing.
my thoughts were met for M$ insane preposition that
their OS is stable enought for the phones market.
and if history does repeat itself it shan't ever be "ready".
I haven't noticed how much bigger the foot print will be,
lets hope it won't like win98 versus winxp, from 200 meg
to a whooping 1.5 gig footprint. And it still needs to
be rebooted. but then again, i'm ranting and raving yet again.
well personally i think that the symbian smartphone is about the best of the smartphones... but my problem with the smartphone concept is less about the os than the form factor... but thats probably an argument for another thread.
I thought this thread was talking about the X50V upgrade to 2005 but reading it i concede that it could have been interpreted as talking about 2005 (or wm5 as we now know it). So if my last post seemed harsh (and i can see how it might have appeared like that) i apologies...
Right thats my bit said... I'll get off the stage now

I still have the X5, which Dell claimed at first would receive the WM2k3se upgrade then changed their minds. Though I hope they don't dash the hopes of the X50 owners as they did us, I'll believe it when I actually see where someone posted a successful upgrade. Be that as it may, it's not worth one red cent. It will be buggy as the dickens and I'd much rather buy new hardware than the old X50. Apparently already a company will be coming out with spanking new hardware with WM2k5 on it, so I'm anxious to see some real improvement in hardware from other manufacturers (not expecting much from Dell, these days). It's about time a REAL USB port was included in PocketPCs.
I'm hoping it's the rumored Dell media device with hard drive. But if it's not a Pocket PC at heart than I'm not upgrading so buying the upgrad is a logical choise for me. I probably won't install it at all. That happened when HP had the WM2003 upgrade for thier HP2215's. I still have it in the shrink-wrap.

I will probably buy it too but will definitely wait for at least one or two ROM upgrade before doing so unless it is solid and better right from day one.
