None taken. I think it's a semi-worthwhlie cause but I see it being doomed for failure for (IMHO) half decent reasons.

The problem with any new apps is the old drivers.

But how good is a new app on a just released version of windows.

And on a side note, when you buy anything new it loses all value, only you then can decide how much it is worth.

I`ve just read that first applications compatibile with WM5.0 only (due to Direct Mobile) begin to appear on the market. In this case it is cfWorldWind - an application that I would not probably use anyway, however the fact of it`s incompatibility with fairy new and powerful model like Axim X30 is pretty disturbing.
Oh dear, thats just like complaining, that any OpenGL|ES application written for the X50v is not running on the X30. It has not much to do with the OS itself. It just that WM2005 adds support for hardware accelerated 3d through Direct3DMobile, very similar to OpenGL|ES under WM2003SE.
OpenGL|ES or Direct3dMobile Applications wont run on your device very well, be it WM2003 or WM2005. Just get over it.

Mad

Hi,

it is quite obvious how Dell thinks about this. They are mainly supporting the US market while Europe is far behind. Meanwhile there is an A06 for the English X30 but an A01 for the German version. I got lots of problem (like others) which seems to be in the bluetooth stack and other areas. The support just told me wait for an update which will be available soon. That was in 09/2004. I waited for around 5 months for an update and after I finally got it it didn't change a thing. So everybody don't wait for such an update. Spend a few bucks more and get a pda from a regular shop where you can later go and complain directly instead of talking to an unqualified supporter who previously worked as a facility manager. In my opinion it is not worth at all to buy anything from Dell unless you like talking to people on the phone quite often.

Regards,
Chris

I bought my X30High less than 3 months ago, and I feel sorry that I cant upgrade the OS, but hey.... I got some good software now, and I guess that I will still be able to get good software in a year.

You see, there are a lot of people without a SUPER-FANCY WM2005 PPC, which means MARKET!

But OK, I would still like Dell to upgrade my PPC :(
