Problems with Windows Mobile 5

So I've loaded Windows Mobile on a PDA I had lying around. After doing this I've encountered the two following problems.

1) My PDA was no longer usable by Active Sync 3.8.
Well, I searched the web and found Active Sync 4.0. After installing Active Sync 4.0 my PDA was not even issuing a device insertion even to Windows XP. This was a step backwards! So I uninstalled Active Sync all together and reinstalled it. However, I had the same results.

2) The file save dialog brought up by GetSaveFileName has some new behavior. Previously, the return key on the on-screen keyboard would trigger the Okay button. Now it just issues a little error noise. Of course, you can still hit the OK button, but when your program is in Landscape mode, the OK button is obstructed by the keyboard GUMP. A lot of people don't know you can hit the little keyboard icon down below and toggle the appearance of the keyboard GUMP.

Has anyone else gotten this far and worked around these problems?

Thanks!

Bobby

It's probably the leaked phone edition version that's been out for awhile now. Was your PDA a PPCPE device RWThurman?

Welcome to Aximsite BTW.

I feel awful, but I can't answer either of your questions properly. However, my device is an ARM device.

These are the risks you take by using pre-release software, unistall it and wait for the real thing.

It's a little difficult to restore your boot blocks, but thanks for the suggestions.

This was a risk you took, this isnt even beta software...its totally leaked...

If you have a PPC Phone Edition (Your PPC is also a phone (none of the dells are), then it would somewhat work, but still is LEAKED SOFTWARE)

There is not much we can do to help if you tried software that was leaked....if it is a dell, you could try doing a rom update (download from support.dell.com) but if its not, then i dont have to many helpful ideas for you

sorry

Ha, I got it working. It was as simple as removing the device from the device manager and scanning for new devices. DOH!
