It's free if you buy an X50 now, if you purchased it earlier than the promo it's gonna cost what $39.99? or was it $29.99?
According to Dell, the free upgrade if you buy an X50/X50v right now has an MSRP of $39.99. So assumptions would be that they'll initially release the upgrade for sell at $39.99.

geez. as if this is something new. if Dell isnt going to give a free update (2003SE) to Axim X5 and x3 users who bought their Axims with WM2003 preloaded, what makes you think Dell is going to offer a paid OS to X30?
Actually, I will most likely NOT purchase WM 2005 for my X50v. I haven't read of any new features that will enhance the X50v's performance, as Jordan was kind enough to point out above. The new persistent memory feature will be great - but the X50v really won't be able to benefit much from that. Otherwise, the only thing I see happening if I were to flash WM 2005 on my X50v would be that I may need to purchase some new S/W versions.
I'll wait for the next generation of devices from Dell to get my WM 2005!
I'm not certain why everyone wants to have it on their present, older devices. Won't do a whole lot for them, if anything. And Dell would then have to deal with a bunch of new complaints when people realize that the new OS can't do all its promised tricks on their older Axims!
The "latest" is not always the "greatest" when the hardware is a generation behind it. My X50v does pretty darned well with WM 2003SE!
When I ordered my X30 Mid on June 22, (Still not delivered, BTW!) I thought it would upgrade to WM2005 without question, because it has 64 MB of Intel StrataFlash® ROM!!!

Good thing you're learning the lessons of profitability now.
I believe the biggest improvement of A06 over A05 is the abiltiy to turn on the WiFi radio regardless of the battery power level. It occurs to me that the WiFi on-off has already been hacked... so we know it is localized. So... we might be able to use the A06 on-off work with A05...
I moved over from the Toshiba camp to the Dell camp because Toshiba burned me on my Toshiba pda when they eventually said they wouldn't upgrade it to 2003. Seems that Dell is not any better in listening to it's customers. I guess there really is no loyalty to customers any more.
