Dell will not be offering a Windows Mobile 5.0 Upgrade for X30!
After chatting with technical support, I sadly found out that Dell will NOT be offering a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the X30. This is not a rare company trick, HP did it too. Both companies will only be offering upgrades for their exspensive high-end models. This is ridiculous! :realmad:

I know this is old news, but I just joined Aximsite yesterday and wanted to hear other opinions.
Opinions we have.. Lot's of them.. you can grab them by looking at the threads in the WM2005 forum...
(and to aximsite by the way)

Where is the petition? Even if all 90,000 Dell AximSite members wrote to support this (even if they don't have X30 but just to show support for the community members in general) WOULD DELL REALLY LISTEN? Would DELL do anything?

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. :) I was merely relaying a fact. You're probably right, most likely they won't do anything. The petition for the X3 WM 2003 SE upgrade was futile . . .

Nope, never meant my response as a 'shoot the messenger', I just neede the quick link and then posted my thoughts IN CASE DELL was looking at posts. Can only try, heck we are just those lowly people some call customers!
Customer staisfaction/investment? They could use customer advocates...............
But really, the X3/X30 (and X5 for that matter) series wouldn't see much of an improvement, and possibly even see a decrease in performance over WM2003. Even the current X50 isn't going to take full advantage of the biggest pro for WM5, which is RAM utilization. The next-gen devices are going to be the ones to really watch out for, assuming they offer a little more RAM on them.
Since most manufacturers will likely still support WM2003 for awhile after WM5 comes out, I don't see the need for Dell/HP/etc to spend the time/money on developing a custom WM5 build for models that won't be able to effectively use the "selling" features of WM5.

sadly it's not about the customers... it's about the numbers for dell... and they use the promo game to get the number that they want for the product that they want to push...

Not just Dell, my friend.... that's the way the market (any company) works, as it's the way for them to be most profitable. Might not be the most customer-oriented way to do business, but it's not likely to get any better anytime soon.
