I bought my x50v little bit more than a month ago.
Today June 22 I call dell and ask for upgrade.
Like usual 20 minutes waiting on the phone.
After that I talk to the operator and mentioned that this is almost new computer and HP already convert they user to version5. And when I talk to sales persons, and they mentioned that Dell will fulfill obligation to upgrade.

So after 5 minutes of conversation I have new version shipped to me on a first shipment (preliminary scheduled on 4th of July)

You will have to confirm that it is effectively Mobile v5 you have received.

I'll be surprised if you receive it in July. Dell isn't scheduled to have it out until October...

Also, are you sure about HP? I wasn't aware that they'd pushed the upgrade out already.

kinda funny how the starter of the thread didnt really say HOW TO GET WIN Mobile 5 from dell.

I'm betting you won't get WM2005 in July... or August.. or September. HP announced it isn't shipping WM2005 until late September. Dell announced availability in October. Where are you getting your information?

I'm guessing it's just a cheap response from Dell - the salesperson probably doesn't know what he's talking about. I doubt he can make such commitments but if he can and it's valid, you're extremely lucky (though I'm inclined to think that it's not going to happen).

I still say, no way... If Dell had a build of WM5 ready for prime-time, they wouldn't be waiting until October to ship it. They'd go ahead and send it to the presses now and start shipping.

Sorry for confusion. I try to say that I got 2003 but request free update to 2005.

Reason for original post To help peoples who bougt Axims not so long ago. This Is just tip how to communicate with dell to get free update.
Don't forgot to mantion that HP update their users already :) (Let Them Play they'r Corporate games and benefit end users)

By the way: The support person was nice and he provide me with the order number, preliminary date of shipment (July 4), he’s id and ask me to give him good review when I get they review email.

Don't try that with Dell Canada. They don't even know what Window Mobile 5 is. And email.... well I'm waiting for more than a week for a reply.
