Question for yall....
I just recently purchased an x30 624 mhz over the x50 520mhz for 2 reasonson, the x30 was showing higher benchmark performance and the dell rep that sold it to me said dell was releasing an upgrade to WM 5.0 for both handhelds, which as we all found out was a crock of sh*t.This was before dell made the offical announcement. This is my 1st handheld, certianly not my last(maybe from dell after this) but if I were to get my hands on the wm 5.0 would I be able to update it myself? or is their major hardware conflicts? Not familiar with how pocket pc software interfaces with hardware.

Might be dificult for a variety of reasons.
1) If Dell aren't releasing it you can't get a legal copy. 2) Assuming that someone manages to get an ilegal we certainly won't discuss it here 3) Assuming you could get it and you may break your axim and would void your warrenty (Dell would find the ilegal copy when you tried to send it back) 4) It's probably one of those things that if you need to ask how to do it... you probably can't manage it. 2003SE isn't a bad OS anyway. If you've been happy with your x30 up till now then you can keep smiling at you shiny new axim ![]()

well 1 and 2 yes I can get a legal copy. I am a software engineer with wells fargo and we have a corp msdn acct. which gives me all microsoft software available. They are publishing wm 5.0 on there next month. The warrenty is one thing I was worried about, but after reading the warrenty paper work it didn't say anything about updating the os. I also have a legal copy of wm 2003 se to reinstall if I must. I have the ability to do so, just learning now about this platform. I just wasnt sure of the ability to do so, since all my development experience is limited to legacy hardware. But judging by your post there shouldn't be any major hardware issues correct?

Well... people have built Linux for the PPC so I dont see why they cant build their own distrobution of WM5. Would definitely be illegal but having the only X30 running WM5 might be incentive enough haha.
