I know it's coming in October, but do we have an actual date yet for the X50v? It seems to me that they should have some kind of deadline by now, its been like 4 months since CE 5 was released.

Yeah I don't think that there is a specific date yet. At least not that I'm aware of. I'm waiting for mine as well...

Anyway back to the topic.. I'm sure that Dell do have a date (It's just that they aren't telling us).

I also suspect Microsoft may have an embargo date on WM5 so nobody is allowed to ship it before that date (and it's also a secret to say what that is)

I doubt it - WM5 is on a good few devices so far - It would be pointless to delay it further just on a point of principle.

Also, even if it were the case that MS has imposed some restriction, this would certainly not be what was delaying Dell's upgrade, as FSC will be releasing their WM5 upgrade for the Loox 720 and 718 on the 14th apparently, although maybe this could change..

Yes.. but nobody has officially released a wm5 device. The closest are some hacked HTC ones. And hackers wouldn't obey the MS embargo anyway (Assuming that it actually exists) but if the date has been set for the loox updates then I agree that part can't be secret

I'm not familiar with the Loox devices, do you have a link that shows when they are releasing it?

According to what I read about the WM2005 Upgrade CD for my X50, it wouldn't be coming out until mid October, but if it comes sooner I will be happy. Wife won't be working in a couple of months, so I gotta buy the upgrades and the toys now, while I have the chance.

Actually the HTC universal is being sold now by T-mobile in Germany and Expansys are shipping devices as well, so WM5 devices are out there, although these are all phones rather than PDAs.

last week expansys were only taking pre orders, but now they have loads in stock!
