Hi folks - considering the new method employed by WM5 for memory management, does anyone know whether clicking the close button actually exits the program or does it still just minimize it?

That's what I heard as well. That stinks. Like Chris said, you'd think that they would listen. But noooo...

yah.. that x minimizing is confusing as hell. People who don't really know what x is actually doing end up complaining about their slow systems. IMO there should be both "_" and "X" so that ppl know whats what.

Exactly!!! Having a "_" would be really great and definitely make things a little less confusing. No, I take that back. It would make things a lot less confusing. Good idea!

How about Icons on the task bar that show what is still resident in the memory like magic button.

"I'm not a real Idiot I just play one on Aximsite"

Microsoft Mobile software designers are too stupid to understand that x = terminate app ever since windows 3.1 was released.

Maybe it will work this time. Third.5 times the charm!

Why stop at close?
I want integrated magic button switching functionality... pity they wont... but imagine it integrated... task bar will never crash while the rest of the os works

  

I think you didn´t understand the concept of windows mobile. Windows mobile devices are "instant on" devices. X is meant to be close but in concept of "instant on" apps are only hidden so that they are still present when you start them "again". Personly I also don´t like that concept but it makes sense...if your device has a lot of power and memory.

Instant on doesn't mean I have all my applications running at the same time or set to have them *all* run at startup. If the application is fast enough at starting, it shouldn't need to stay in memory.

I am brand new to the Windows mobile world and I simply can not get over how much less intuitive Windows Mobile is compared with the Palm platfom...with the "x" not closing programs leading my list of gripes at the moment.

thank heavens for programs like wisbar advanced. first on my list of "can't live without"
