Windows Mobile 5 Question

hi. i've got a quick windows mobile 5 question. i have an x50v and am planning to upgrade to WM5 when it comes out. here's my question. after i install the new OS, will all my information (contacts, calendar, etc...) be lost, or is there a way to save all of that info. it's not a big deal if it's erased but i would like to save the time of having to re-enter my contacts, calendar, etc... thanks in advance for any info.

Everything will be lost. But if you are sync with Outlook, it will resync all your contact and calendar on the first connection

So even if we use sprite, we will need to reinstall all programs? I understand contacts, tasks, etc can resync with outlook.

If sprite would work, since the ram is changing tasks, would we be better off doing a clear install of new programs? I am thinking yes we would...but what do I know...

I was thinking of buying sprite just for the rom upgrade ability. would this be applicable with the wm5 upgrade?

Hehe.. Sorry, but there's no chance you can restore a sprite backup from WM2003 onto WM5...
Probably the best bet would be as Vric says, set AS to sync everything, then it will restore all your PIM data on first sync.

Even if Sprite could restore from WM2003SE to WM5, I would avoid going that route if possible; it's just too huge of an OS upgrade to use shortcuts like that. Clean installs are always the best. If you install most of your apps using ActiveSync, it's very quick to reinstall.

if i were to sync with active sync before i did the upgrade to WM5, and then synched again after the upgrade was complete, would my PIM info be restored?
