Turn off WM5 Soft Keys?

I haven't found any info on this so I'm assuming it can't currently be done, but I was wondering if the soft keys (at least in the PPC version) in WM5 could be turned off to help with app compatibility.

I know that you cant do it in the os, but you probally could get third party "hacks" to get rid of them. I dont think and are out yet, seeing as Win Mobile 5 just came out in May, but i would imagine that one would show up soon

End users can't turn off the softkeys, but I am told that developers don't necessarily have to use the softkeys for their Pocket PC applications. You can install apps designed for WM2003 on a WM5 device and they should run just fine.

AIM runs just fine on WM 5.0... but I suspect theres something more like "options, sign off, away messages, close IM's". But all I got on the bottom is a little icon to open the soft keyboard. It would be cool to hide it...

That is true, and can be seen in PhatPad, which has a "Classic Menus" option. When you choose that option, the two softkeys dissappear and the good old PhatPad menu comes back. As soon as I installed PhatPad after upgrading to WM5, I found the tho softkeys were terribly useless, and I think Phatware made an excellent choice making the traditional menus available.

Resco Explorer did the same thing as well thank god. I really want to go through endless menus to find a command that used to be one click.
