I just ordered the WM5 upgrade for my X50v. I have ROM A03 installed and have delayed in installing the current ROM (A05?) until WM5 came out. Do I need to do the ROM update before I do the WM5 upgrade?

No, not necessary, you can wait and install WM5 over any of the previous ROM version.

Not unless you want to use A05 now, untill you get WM5. Otherwise as Gary said, it is not nescessary.
