try, persistant storage!!!!! longer battery life!!!! wont lose info if batt goes dead!!!!! dont draw batt power in storage!!!! VGA support!!!!! and more..........
Giant Soft Buttons!!!!
Slower Performance!!!!
Reduced Bluetooth Functionality!!!
No WiFi Activesynch!!!!
Dodgy Menu Layout!!!
What VGA Support???!!!
I'd really like to know how much battery life will I get..
That's the only reason why I would upgrade
Oh, and to see if the "calendar" bug I'm experiencing get's fixed...
I've read that the OSes up to Windows Mobile 5.0 have a "72 hour rule", which means that the device will shutdown (showing the battery level to be near 0% or so) when the device actually has power to sustain itself in hibernation mode for 72 hours. On average, that equates to 1/2 hour battery power! So your device's battery still is half charged when your device indicates that it is at 0%. So, you should get almost double the battery life (if the article I read was correct).

I'm still not sure about the soft buttons myself, but we'll see.
The rest of your issues are dependant on the user.
I really don't care about the loss of wifi sync as I never used it and the BT functionality will be fine for me as well, especially considering there's supposed to be added bt support for keyboards and mice built in. I found this, "The device supports standard profiles such as OBEX, DUN, serial port, headset and HID (keyboards and mice)" here http://palmtops.about.com/gi/dynamic...xim%2DX51v.htm
Not sure what you mean about the menu layout.
As for VGA support...I'll assume you're wanting trueVGA, which is completely useless to about 90% of vga ppc users including myself. Programs are coming out that take full advantage of the vga display without hacking the os, the technical preview of Netfront 3.3 is an excellent example.
The slower performance will probably mean slightly slower load times for some, but most of my programs are already installed in BIS. Besides, having a full 64 megs of ram to cache the os and your apps should actually make many things run faster. As I understand it, wm5 also includes drive caching which should be a welcome enhancement to microdrives.

It wasn't that I wanted trueVGA - I was just trying to point out (albeit somewhat obliquely) that an earlier post had claimed "VGA Support" for WM5. Of course WM5 is no different to WM2003SE when it comes to VGA.
The only thing I would like to see is if the new Pocket IE has IE 6.0 emulation so I can view and use WebCT on my PPC. I know there are hack programs, but I shouldn't have to pay extra for a hack program to get my OS main programs to operate properly. LOL What's Bill Gate's email address?...

I agree, my programs are already installed to BIS, im not sure whats with the menus, there should be between 75-300% longer battery life, depending on user as it does not draw power in storage, and i read that it would have vga support because dell hacked the operating system, according to the reviews and the x51v.

Will netfront 3.3 allow me to use IE in true vga mode while using the rest of windows in the defualt mode?
The last thing I heard from Dell was Oct. 3, but they're notorious for giving you a ship date and then pushing it back on that day.
Lol..well, it's the 3rd and I just got a call telling me the 10th. I see a pattern here.

Netfront 3 is a web browser, so no.

I haven't seen anything like that in the x51v reviews I've read. Do you have a link? WM5 has built-in support for VGA just like 2003SE, but it's the same setup, not truevga.

you dont want true VGA because everything is still too freaking small to use. understand: having the same size graphics but much better detail is more preferable than having extremly small buttons and text that are a pain to press.
