i ve tried to flash my dell axim x51v with the HTC Universal rom but first of all you'll get a message its the wrong language etc
when you try to flash it with a modified installer that skips these tests it looks like it workes but somehow (the newest) activesinc stops and the connection faills. maybe it has to disable activesinc and connect with the installer connection manager but it didnt work.
I cant retry it because i upgraded to vista, and i dont really found out how it works in this os.

ps: i didnt know that brick thing was that serious

Yeah, its well annoying cause it does work on the axim as i know a guy whos done it but he had to hex edit the rom to make it look like wm5?! he hasnt replyed to me yet about what rom he used or what he edited.

You can not install the Universal rom on any other device. Only the Universal. Flashing your Axims with the Universal rom will brick your handheld. Flashing is not covered under warranty. I suggest you stop trying to flash your Axims.

Well anythings possible if you know how to do it. How do you know that the universal rom doesnt work? it doesnt matter if its made for that device you can still hack it and change it to make it run on a different device.

Everyone is sick of you, you do not understand that the Universal ROM will not work on an Axim, yet you think you can hack the ROMs together to produce a working one? It takes a lot of skill, a lot of knowledge about embedded OS, and a lot of knowledge about the devices that you want to port from and port to. It also will probably take a big team of hackers. One man alone that does not have the knowledge will not be able to pull it off.
