What happens if theres no update?

Ive just discovered a tool on the net called Scoter kitchen where you can make ROMs some of you maybe fimilliar with it but i just found it. Im going to start editing ROMs and testing them with a Emulator and hopefully i can get WM6 on Axim if no update is released for the Axims. Has anyone used this prog before? Have a search on Google if you want to download it!

dood even with skins it will look the same, WM5 and WM6 look exactly the same. your just getting extra features mainly designed for phone usage....if you cant stand WM5 get a UMPC, im sure that will solve all of your problems.

UMPCs are about as big as my laptop haha. How do you know what WM6 is like if you havent tried it? Yes its for phone usage more but i like the look of it skins cant change everything. Im not an idiot i just like doing things that other people cant be bothered to try. Wm6 on axim is like Mac on a PC atm that means it can be done its tricky but it can. Microsoft are beginning to actually make decent OS's now and WM6 should be more reliable and faster people who say its slower if you look at the videos there using Smartphones so the processor speed is alot slower than a PDAs. I just like to keep upto date with the latest programs and OS's cause of that you think im idiot?!

You don't know what WM6 is like either unless you have seen it on a device which I doubt. Have you used any other devices other than the AXim? Because I don't think that most of the problems you are experiencing have anything to do with WM5 but rather DELL. By the time WM6 becomes main stream there will be better & faster PDA's than the Axim anyway. You can quit your complaining about WM5 because I am afraid that you are going to be stuck with it for the time being. Unless you buy a different device running WM5 or wait until the new devices running WM6 launch. Like other people have pointed out WM6 is geared to devices that are integrated anyway.

well, hes right. why cant you accept anything as a legit answer?

i doubt Dell is going to provide the update. buy a new pda instead if you really want it _that_ bad.

If you want a WM6 PDA, why not see Toshiba? Outside of it being a phone and having a keyboard, slower 416MHz processor, and only 64mb ROM, it seems to suit your needs- it has WM6 and A WVGA screen. And it doesn't need to get bricked to dp it.

Enjoy your WM6.

Rumble, I'm not sure why all these guys are giving you a hard time. Creative, inventive people always love trying new stuff. If we went with the "it ain't broke don't fix it" we'd still be riding horses, and have a computer bigger than a house.

From other posts, WM6 is more than eye candy, and something I'd love to have on my Axim. I currently have the Windows Live MSN running on my WM5 X51v, and it's awesome. Don't let the conservative guys discorage you (it's not like you're testing on their machines). I'm crazy busy right now, but will ckeck out that software.

edge - the problem of that he seems to expect WM6 to magically fix all of the perceived issues with his Axim, and calls anyone why says differently an idiot. This of NOT the case - WM6 Classic offers integrated Live Messenger, Live Search, and some interface enhancements. It does NOT include a real 'close' button from what I've read, does not offer better memory management, which is why WM5 crashes and burns...

It's basically Vista for PPC's and Smartphones - no major enhancements, more eye candy, a messenger program upgrade, and a misleading naming system. :) I've probably read the same articles you have, and see no major changes like the WM5 persistent storage. That and some interface enhancements are present... ones I have already via third-party programs.

Given Dell's historical lack of support for older devices after a OS change... I doubt we'll get WM6, and telling people who warn you it's a bad idea to hack a ROM when you have no programming knowledge, nor any of the drivers that they're idiots.. well, most of the daring and successful were at least EXPERIENCED people, if not trained in those fields. Most of those who weren't are forgotten as failures. ;) If he wants to brick his Axim, fine. Just don't post here complaining about it, especially after that RIP post.. as that means a replacement will soon become difficult to find.

"Well, most of the daring and successful were at least EXPERIENCED people, if not trained in those fields. "

You mean like Wilbur and Orville Wright?

Go ahead, Rumble, do your thing. You've got nothing to lose except a c****y PDA which is well past its best, and which many people would be glad to see the back of!
