In general, here are some reasons why people prefer WM6 to earlier versions of WM.
WM6 supports SDHC which allows you to have an 8GB SDHC card. If this were available for an Axim you could have it along with at least an 8GB CF.
Theoretically, this means you can easily use one card to sync against selected folders to carry work with you, store all your email on a card, etc., while using the CF for swappable media. Wanna watch a movie? Swap your CF card. Listen to Music? Swap the CF. You could at these sizes, store perhaps a couple of movies on the card.
Another general improvement is that WM6 also provides html support in email. Flexmail is a decent program, but I still have some problems with it. It sometimes crashes, and is a little slow if you have a lot of exchange folders. Mail doesn't have the same issues, so html support would be nice.
I believe there are also some other upgrades to Office, though I primarily use Softmaker Office.
