Ok, can anyone explain the following registry keys?

I would have thought they have something to do with WMV playback in WMP but I've tried playing with the entries (to try and improve performance) and I never see any change.
I've even deleted the entire ASFCodec section from the registry and as far as I could tell, nothing was effected.

CorePlayer plays the exact same WMV files with far superior quality and as far as I can tell, it's using the same DLLs as WMP. At least there's a registry setting for CorePlayer directing it to the same DLLs in the Windows folder.
(CorePlayer actually references WMV9Decoder.dll instead of WMV9Decoder2700G.dll but I've tried changing the WMP registry reference to this same DLL and again, no change.)

If these registry setting aren't related to WMV playback then what the heck are they?
