a guy on ebay has rom for wm6 for the hx4700......

anyone know if this is true and works?

Look on XDA-developers.com to find out more about unofficial WM6 ROMs. There's a WM6 ROM for your PPC, but it isn't a MS or HP product (therefore, some people will deny that there really is any WM6 ROM). Aximsite doesn't allow discussion of hacked ROMs. BTW, don't buy the ROM on ebay-it's the same thing that you can get for free on XDA-devs, and it's of dubious legality either way. If you want an OS upgrade that's not legally murky, I've heard that the 4700 has one of the best Linux ROMs available for a Pocket PC.

I dont want to discuss stuff that is not supposed to be.. I just figured that if a guy is selling it on ebay... I should be able to google it and find headlines about it being released.....

Yes, there are people out there that like to rip you off by selling you stuff you can normally get for free. This is like selling Firefox for desktops on ebay.

There is an unofficial build of WM6 for the HP 4700. XDA has it.

The so called unofficial build is an illegal WM6.0 ROM for the hx4700. This is probably the same ROM you are seeing for sale on eBay. This illegal ROM is not sanctioned by or supported by Microsoft or HP. If you decide to go that route, proceed at your own risk.
