Hey guys. I just bought a used ETEN M700 on eBay a week ago and it was working fine till a few days ago.
I set a password on my PDA, which I am not doing again BTW, and I performed a normal soft reset, the password screen came up then when I typed in my pasword it told me it was wrong. From what I found it was caused by some ETEN glitch. But anyways now the password doesn't work and it won't let me do a hard reset, I'm guessing this is because WM6 has locked me out of it, but I'm not sure...
I tried to drain the internal battery by leaving the main battery out for 24 hours... But I have a sinking feeling that my PDA either has one crazy good backup battery or that it has persistent memory so I can't get rid of the password...
So anyway my pda is locked out, it won't hard reset, and it is got persistent memory or something to store the password with...
If anybody can help here I would really appreciate it... I'd really hate to be stuck with a $300 brick...
If the ETEN has WM6.0, it has persistent memory and removing the battery will not provoke a hard reset like it would have for a windows mobile 2003 device.
Are you sure you are performing a hard reset? Sometimes you have to press the combination of keys down longer than you'd expect as is indicated in this thread:

My situation is exactly like pwsabm's in that thread... took out the battery and it messed up the password... and it won't hard reset... does a soft reset instead...
do you know of any other way to hard reset the device, somehow re-install WM6 or something?

...but didn't the guy in that thread eventually get his device reset and report back that he needed to press one of the keys longer?
