:) That's what I'm talking about...I had a Palm OS until trading up to the Treo Pro six weeks ago. The Palm OS on my old Treo 680 had smileys that you could select to insert into the SMS. On the Treo Pro, I found that I could use smileys with MMS, but my wife's phone (Treo 755P) on Verizon will not accept them. So, how do I get smileys in SMS? (Not really interested in typing <colon> and then <parenthesis> to fake it....)

it doesn't matter... If the reader doesn't have some sort of SMS viewer app like you would be using, they would only get the : - ) on their end.

Unless you are just trying to save your own keystrokes, but you aren't going to find much of a shortcut that will save you many presses

smileysms used to work on my Mogul. I have the Touch Diamond now and haven't tried it since.
