If you ordered a good one, I don't think there are any negatives to having a screen protector. All the ones I've used (Boxwave, Brando) have held up for years (I'm not exaggerating) and are thin enough to still give that naked screen feel.

If you ordered one that is lower quality, I suppose the negatives might include: leaving a residue, puncturing/tearing, etc. thus resulting in vulnerable spots on your screen, reduced transparency, poor sensitivity causing you to press harder on your screen possibly damaging something, frequent replacements putting your device at higher risk of damage from uninstalling/reinstalling

I've used one since day one. The only negative is if you don't put them on correctly. Follow the instructions exactly. :)

I agree with kcallahan. Be careful not to get any part of the screen protector trapped between the screen and the edge of the case. This will not actually damage your PDA but it will stop the stylus working. The "cure" is to remove the screen protector and re-install it correctly.

To avoid getting air bubbles under the protector I believe in using the "steamy bathroom" technique. A search of Aximsite will find this.
