Please Help! Can't Delete Email Account

I think I posted this incorrectly in another forum.

I just got a Sprint HTC Touch. It wasn't working well right out of the box. I had some Blue Tooth issues, etc., so I did a ROM update and everything works beautifully now, EXCEPT I had tried to add my Gmail account and I recall something popping up at the beginning right after the ROM update asking me if I wanted to add a Yahoo, MSN, GMail account. I selected yes and it added the Gmail account, but it doesn't connect and I cannot delete it or change the settings.

I've added the Gmail account again through the normal Messaging option, called it Gmail2 and it works fine, but I still cannot delete the first Gmail account. When I select "delete" in the Messaging screen nothing happens. I've googled this problem and seen many similar issues on different phones and different email accounts, Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, but no suuccessful solution other than doing a hard reset, which I would hate since I just got the thing working great.

The first Gmail account is not even listed in the Options screen where you can normally change all your email accounts' settings.

Any ideas? Wish I was watching closer when the option first popped up asking me if I wanted to set up a Gmail account, I haven't been able to duplicate that.

Thank you.

Well, I think you already know what you're going to wind up doing to get rid of that account.....hard reset.

In case anyone is having a similar problem and would like to know how I solved it without hard reset, here it is. Go to programs tab, there is a program called "Mobile E-Mail Settings". In my case it had a little yellow Sprint symbol. I launched that and selected reset settings. It deletes the current gmail account and any emails received. It then tries to get me to set up other email accounts. I am avoiding this for now. I prefer to set up POP email retrieval throught the "Messaging" program.
