Disgusted w. Outlook, looking for a 3rd party calendar application w. appointment alarms, views of the day, week, month, & year, AND syncs with a desktop version.
Does such an animal exist? (To former Palm users, the native software did this, but DateBk 6 did it better.)
Background: Previous owner of a Palm Pilot, who has ordered an HP IPaq 211.
There used to be a section set aside for each member here called My PDA which often had good info, but I cannot seem to locate it right now. Perhaps it got lost in one of the forum upgrades/mergers?
Anyway, you can peruse my website (link below) to see what I do and use. Certainly not the only choices, though, as you have already seen! And be sure to use the trial period for any software. Try a number of alternatives before you buy to ensure you are happy with your choice.

Nice website. You listed the software that you selected, but not why you selected one pkg over another. The reasons may be strictly a matter of personal preference; just a thought.

Thx. I figure that if someone is interested in my selection criteria they would ask on one of the forums I visit. My first questions of them of course would be:
What application or function are you trying to address?
What products have you tried yourself?
What did you like about each of them?
What did you dislike about each of them?
You see, these mobile devices started out being called PDAs, the operative word in that acronym being Personal. Your PDA needs to work for you, not for me. Conversely, My PDA needs to work for me, not you.
I figure the vendor websites can take on the job of describing the features and functions of their own products. That information, coupled with actual hands-on experience obtained via a trial install, and combined with the similar information obtained in similar fashion for other products, makes for a far more interesting discussion. Otherwise, it really just becomes either all one-sided, or breaks down into chest-thumping fanboy raves.
Whew! All that said, what do you like and dislike about the Calendaring solutions you have evaluated? :)

A google search for windows mobile calendar will reveal several options. You need to just figure out what features are important to you and you will be good to go. With the new windows marketplace for mobile opening up soon you can browse some more options there too.
Actually my criteria is simple: I want a calendar program like DateBk 6, which runs on Palm's Garnet OS. It has a PDA & desktop versions & allows for repeating appts. Appts can have or not have a time span. Foreground & background color can be changed for different appts. And there are multiple views: Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Yr, & List of appts.
On my 3rd Ipaq (1st two were defective). Once I get past the low memory issue, I will try Adgendus Pro, since it looks like it meets most of my criteria.
Appreciate all of your help: You are right that the 'best' pkg, is the one that meets a specific user's needs.
I ran DateBk3/4/5 (6 came out after I switched from Palm) for much the same reasons. I guess I am a "power user", but something as basic as repeating and recurring tasks and appointments just does not work right (on Palm or on WM) with the built-in software.
The DateBk product on Palm had a number of different ways it could be configured, including "applets" that could invoke custom saved views.
The DateBk application had a standard view that split the screen, placing tasks and calendar into separate sections. I miss that somewhat.
I did find a product for WM that I like. It does include a number of different views, including Daily, Weekly, Monthly Agenda, Timeline, Events, ...
Try them. Find out what you like.
