LOL!! What else drives me crazy is how they went from using the year wm2002, 2003, to using the ce version, wm5, 6.

WM6 is nicer looking, faster and has more support for programs and also you can get youtube mobile which you cant on WM5. WM5 does the job just not as nice looking and a bit slower. Dell may release WM6 yet as HTC arent releasing WM6 for some of there devices till the end of this month even though most models have WM6 already available thanks to XDA Developers. Another thing is that the Axim is discontinued so why would dell release a new OS?!

rumble291, we've already been through this - you gave the same answers again. I won't bother with a rebuttal as you've already read my thoughts on WM6. I was hoping the poster or someone else would answer. I'm truly trying to find out why people are so desperate for WM6.

Noiro, I think you've got it - "it's new and I don't have it." Unfortunately, that's the sad state we're in today... me, me, me, want, want, want.

BTW, I'm trying to be straight forward here... I really would like to know what's better about WM6, even if it's only minor. I don't really care what people think it can do, I only care about what it actually can do over WM5.

Edit: Nice WM6 guide Noiro - I'm using WBA3 Beta now. I do like the WM6 look!

Well I'm sure there's a long list of improvements in wm6.

Look here: http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/windows_mobile_6_megaroundup.html

Here's an MS PDF discussing WM6 benefits... http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/9/5/79580b26-b2cf-4f6f-93a5-5164f5bb6a17/Delivering%20Great%20Performance%20and%20Value%20f or%20IT%20Professionals.pdf

MS also has a nice flash demo for WM6. All in all, it looks like the enhancements would not affect me and my Axim much. For others using a WM6 phone connected to a corporate infrastructure, there are more useful benefits. I encourage you to view the flash demo starting here

Well originally I wanted WM6 just to have something to continue. With Dell out of the market and WM5 done, there isn't much more you can do with your Axim.

Part of having a device is getting upgrades, additional features, etc. If Dells out and Microsoft is working on WM6, then what fun is the Axim anymore.

Although I originally posted before A17 was cooked, and honestly A17 actually does the job. Its the latest WM5 release and is alot faster then previous releases. This was basically all I was looking for.

WM6 is basically a finalized WM5. Thats why I wanted it. Just to have something conclude the device and allow it to run its best (A12 was close).

The thing is, WM6 is available on my Blackjack, but I haven't done it yet (although I will). There is very little reason to upgrade aside from having a newer version with several bugfixes. The only things I've seen to gain are HTML Outlook and better picture Quality in PIE (who even uses PIE anyway?).

A17 satisfies me completely in knowing that its running the best it ever has running the latest (last) version of WM5.

(P.S. Plus I know someone will get WM6 working on the Axim anyway.)

Its not hard to get it to run on the axim its just the time and some1 who has more than 2 axims for bricking lol. Its a HTC device just with a different bootloader (dammit) and made to dells requirements. Ive got WM6 on my wizard its alot faster than WM5 but some programs dont run on wm6 cause microsoft and there stupid signed certificates!

paulcb, do you have wm6? I do and i think its a big improvement over WM5 just because its based on the same CE version as WM5 doesnt mean its the same. Its like XP and Vista, Vista is faster, more stable and looks better. XP has finally got to a stage where it can run without many errors.

Im waiting for linux on my Axim now anyways. No one has heard anything about wm6 from dell so it wont be coming.

Ok, guys, we are walking on a very thin line here.

Watch out with crossing the line with actual ROM discussion! ;-)

Are the mods searching for old threads that indirectly mention hacked ROM's? This thread was pretty much dead until you posted. I don't think the line is in danger of being crossed here since this thread is a month old and considering the state of hacked ROM discussions around here.

I was just given a warning today by ksong for a post I made more than a month ago. The thread was dead and doesn't post a threat anymore as paul has pointed it out. Did you revive the thread just to give me a warning? I'm flattered, lol. A little trigger happy aren't we ksong.
