WM6 Manufacture & Provider Upgrades
Just received my latest issue of Smartphone & PPC magazine last week. On page 8 the following was reported.
e-Ten
They are offering WM6 upgrade to users of its Glofish X500 & M700 PPC's

HP

They announced that there WILL NOT be any WM6 upgrades for existing WM5 devices.

AT&T
Palm announced that an update from WM5 to WM6 pro is coming for the Treo 750. The update will eventually bring AT&T customers High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) capability. AT&T also announced WM6 upgrades for the Samsung Blackjack & Cingular 8525. The update for the Treo is supposed to be out later this year. No word on when the other upgrades will be available.

T-Mobile
They are offering a WM6 upgrades to users of its WM5 Dash smartphone.

HTC
HTC offers WM6 upgrades for their recently released messaging line, including the Advantage, HTC TyTN (Cingular 8525), HTC S620 (T-Mobile Dash), HTC P4350, & HTC P3300. These are available through carrier partners in the U.S.

This is all that I know & do not have any further information.

Dell DID say they had discontinued the Axim, so it's unlikely.

We think Microsoft sucks, and they deserve to be broken up. In fact, we've partnered with Apple to help ship their iPhones, which are the way of the future, and we've destroyed all of our old Axim stocks, and have discontinued ALL technical support for the older Axim x5, x3, x30, x50 and x51-series products."

Ok considering HTC which made the axims for dell have said they are releasing the updates end of this month. Have Dell said they will not upgrade? No. Your right i gotta believe it oh well what a waste of money that was on my axim ah well. Im got a wizard now with WM6 and at least all the guys at xda developers no what there talking about. You all think its impossible to put wm6 on the axim when how can it be done WM6 is just an OS you can custom for a device. So when you say you cant hack wm6 you really can in form of a rom kitchen. like football did with his rom.

HTC is releasing WM6 updates for its NEWEST devices - the oldest of which was made no more than a year ago, and was cutting-edge then. Saying that, because HTC made the Axims and they're releasing WM6 updates equals 'HTC is possibly doing a WM6 update for the Axims because they're doing WM6 updates for other devices' is like saying that because HP is shipping Vista upgrades for certain models of HP desktops sold last year that they're going to ship Vista upgrades for machines made in 2004.

We're not saying it's impossible to put WM6 on an Axim; what we ARE saying is that it's freaking unlikely that you'll get it working reliably and safe without any bugs without access to the design notes and microcode for the device in the first place. People like Football are doing a remarkable job with WM5 AKU 3.5.2... but even then, he's had issues getting basic features to work, although at least they had a CF patch ready that re-enabled that very basic functionality.

Again, for the record, a Windows Mobile ROM update is less a 'complete' OS install and more a 'disk image' which includes all of the drivers needed to get the device to run correctly. The reason all of that hacking about and mucking around is required on the parts of the people who've been working on these various images is because of that; if it was just a matter of removing a software lock which prevented it from being installed on an unauthorized device, then we wouldn't be having these issues with missing functionality and all...

haha you dont get it do you WM6 isnt really an upgrade its more a update its just a less buggy, faster WM5 with a nice skin on it. Its hardly like resource hungry vista. If you go and look at xda developers you will see that its not that hard to create a rom there are many rom kitchens and instructions on about how to create your own custom rom.
