Sprint PPC6700 Review
As an existing Sprint client, they let me demo this for a week. It took me 3 days to decide to buy it. Reasons:
-I work away from the office, needed access to my client contact info.
-Needed to access my domain email on the road.
-Needed to have an integrated to-do list, and scheduling calendar.
-Wanted a windows environment, as I think it is the future, ahead of palm and blackberry, and is a better investment in technology.
-I wanted to be able to surf the web anytime I want.
I did not want to have a bunch of wires coming out of my laptop, and don't like booting it up everytime I wanted to access that info.
The unit has Windows Mobile 5.0, outlook 2002 in it.
You can either use a wifi connection (fastest connection), or anywhere you have Srpint digital service, to check email, or web browse. If you use the "Sprint dialup", it's fatser than normal dialup, but not as fast as wifi-split the difference in speed. $15.00 a month , with no time useage is dirt cheap, even if it is slower internet speed.
The processor speed is fine, I am not a bleeding edge geek, and as long as it opens and closes, and changes data as fast as I can, I'm happy with it. It's got a 1.3 mp camera, with bunches of shooting modes, but to me that was not priority, though I'm sure I will use it. It also uses mini sd cards, and the price is about $70.00 for a gig card, with adapter sleeve. Bluetooth, too, but I'm old school there, as well.
Accessories are available, but not from Sprint. I use a the sync cradle for sync with desktop, and office charging, and the ciggy usb adapter and cable for the truck. I think it is from micro innnovations, and was for a palm 505, with the usb/mini cable, and ciggy adapter($30.00), so I can leave my other cables in the office.
Battery life is as expected, and I would recommend the mobile charger, assuming it is used for a mobile "office", as I use it. I surfed for 3-4.5 hours, on wifi, and thought that was pretty good.
Phone battery life? No clue, since it's combined with PC useage.
Spare batteries are about $50.00, and the sync/charging cradle has a second slot for a second battery, in addtion to the PPC itself. The kit also comes with a dedicated a/c charger.
I love it!
