Thinking about going to the Sprint 6700 in addition or instead of Axim
I am thinking about switching or keeping both. Anyone have any strong negatives with the 6700. I am looking forward to evdo and good email connections. I am not looking forward losing my VGA screen and my 8gb microdrive.

Great PDA lousy phone
I had a VX 6700 for 2 weeks. As a Palm user for many years I thought it was the best PDA I'd ever used and it convinced me to switch to a WM5 pda. I'll be ordering my Axim next week

Having said that it is slow.

As a phone it is terrible. The main reason I returned it is that I found the phone to be unusable. Dialing a touch screen while driving (not that I would do that) is dangerous. Volume is too low, speakerphone is terrible.

I almost added another line to my account to keep it as a PDA with always on high speed internet. Then I decided it just wasn't worth the money.

Check out the forums at www.pdaphonehome.com and www.howardforums.com for other opinions.

I've read plenty of messages from people who love it so YMMV.

Good Luck

I was looking at the XV6700 a few weeks ago myself. It has a nice screen on it (though small) but I just think adding a phone/camera to the PDA is a bit much. I think I'm just going to stick with my X50 and phone and keep 'em separate. Cramming it all in one device just seems to compromise too much.

My company provided a XV6700 that is tied to my exchange account. it's pretty sweet although i don't use it as a primary phone.

that said, I regard the 6700 and the Axim as completely different tools. it is great to have constant access to email and the internet, but just like the axim, it's PIE.

if i could get the phone and slide-out keyboard on the Axim, well that would be just about right.

my advice - keep both. you'll find that each has it's place.

cheers
paul

I do like it so far. But I miss the VGA screen. I feared it would be sluggish, but it seems to run as fast as my x51v. Browsing is not as easy on a smaller screen. But I can access my email and everything quite well.
