PPC-6700 or Treo700wx -- how is PDA?
I'm getting tired of carrying both a PDA (x50) and a cell phone and really would like to switch to a PocketPC Phone. I'm stuck with Sprint as my cellular provider, so that gives me a choice of the PPC-6700 or the Treo700wx. I'm much more concerned with how satisfied I will be with it as a PDA than am I worried about the phone part. I'd appreciate any thoughts or links to this information elsewhere. Thanks.

It's the keyboard. It all comes down to the keyboard. Assuming you can work with the 240X240 resolution, the Treo is much better phone wise. But if your willing to spend maybe a few hours, the PPC 6700 is a lot better to use to 1. take notes, 2. send emails/txt messages 3. surf the web 4. play games if you wish 5. overall PDA functionality

Looking at the Treo, the size and shape of the screen bothers me, but I don't know if it really would in usage. And, I'm not used to a keyboard at all -- just using a stylus, so I'm not sure how that would figure in! My PDA usage is mostly for contacts, calendar, reading text documents (some as PDFs), lists (ListPro), reading email (not much writing of them though).

Thanks.

If it weren't for the screen size and shape, I'm sure I'd go with the Treo. That is what is holding me up.

I do use WiFi now with my Axim, and realize the Treo doesn't have it. But, with the EvDo I don't know if I'd really need it (just use it to check email or web if I'm away from my desk).

Do both units run all the PPC programs that my Dell Axim x50 runs? No games, just programs, utilities and plug-ins. Any issue with any programs (say Mapopolis) with the non-standard screen size?

Right now I use a CF GPS with my Axim. I guess I'd have to switch to a BT one with one of these new PPC phones.

Thank you.

I have the 6700 and I really like it but it has an end of life scheduled for Mid October. So you may want to either get it quickly or wait to see what else is coming out. Whatever the trade show is that is going on this week has a 6800 but I haven't heard a schedule for when or if it will be released by sprint. There was a new pda phone coming out on sprint. I think it is a samsung, but I couldn't find a link for it just now. It is not on the sprint website, but I did get something on it last week.

I just picked up a Treo 700wx myself. It should be here tomorrow.

I went from X50v, to 8125, and just moved to a Treo 700Wx.
The Treo is amazing! I could never go back to a non-converged device, and while I like the keyboard on the 8125, having the keyboard on the front of the device with Palm's nice hardware makes it a great machine.
