What makes phone edition so special?
What does WM5PhoneEdion have that PPCversion does not?
What will I lose if I ditch my Ax for a PPC Phone?
I need to be able to run Pocket Esword and Opera, will these work with phone edition?

So my ax must be defective because it's always run slower than my Zire 31 Palm. I want to send it back, and if the next one sucks just as bad (i hope not) then I'm just going to scrape together the cash and but a ppc phone.

yea buy a new ppc phone, they are much better than the older revisions if you ask me.
Speed wise I went from an x50v (624mhz intel) to an eten m600+ (samsung 400Mhz) and the speed performance in general operation was 10 fold, ie slick & speedy, not sure why so many people complain about have your phone built into wm5 pda, but it saves carying 2 devices, all 'pure' phones I've had ( about 15 different brands/models), the phone/pda seems no different in 'phone' usability to me, and added benifit of easy sync phone contacts, and pda functions.
Have a good look around before doing the upgrade, but i say do it!.

I've got to have a touchscreen, but I would also like phone capabiliies. I just like most aximsiters am waiting for the Quad Band, VGA, 600MZ, WIFI, Bluetooth 2.0 Pocket PC phone. Then I will fork over my life savings and become poor to own it!

Cingular has a WM5 phone with touch screen, I think it is the 8125.

That's a PPC phone, not a Smartphone, but yeah, there are phone extensions to the WM5 PPC environment. I was just pointing out the "other" WM5 phone version.

I think that the difference between WM5 PPC and WM5 PPC phone editions are just a matter of implementation. My old WM2003se PDA has a folder for ringtones (/Windows/Rings), even though it's not a phone. It's built-in.

I don't like smartphones at all. Smaller non-touch screens...not my thing. I am a fan of the pocket pc phone. Instead of taking a phone and trying to give it PPC capabilities take a PPC and give it phone capabilities!

you get used to it.. and it needs to conserve battery power.

Sacrifices must be made

Just got this fantastic device for one week now
This HTC P3600 Trinity

http://www.europe.htc.com/products/htcp3600.html

is the best device I have ever had. It's 400 Mhz chip gives me a faster feeling than my Axim x51v with its 624 Mhz. MS Push mail works like a charm. Never crashed in one week (unlike the axim did). GPS with a bluetooth mouse works too (it is a little bit slower than on the axim). The size is small enough to put it in your pocket (unlike the axim) still the screen (320x240 2.8 Inch) is big enough. I will continue to use that gadget for one week and than I think i will sell my axim...
