Stop email deletion on phone when mail downloaded to desktop
Hello All,

I just purchased a Verizon XV6800 phone (WM6 Pro). I have my phone set to check messages every 10 minutes (headers plus 5K of the body) using WM6 Messaging. At night, when I download email to my desktop computer, the phone clears its inbox. My old Blackberry 8703 kept messages on the phone even after they were cleared from the server. Flexmail (WebIs) has the feature as well.

Does anyone know how to configure WM6 Messaging to keep mail on the phone after clearing messages from the server?

Thanks,

Jeff

I am only experienced with POP3 mail servers. What type of mail service are you using?

With POP3, the simple answer is no, once removed from the server by your desktop, it will be removed on your PPC'S inbox at next send/rec.
However, If your desktop is set to "Remove mail from server when received" then the answer (and feature in my opinion) is to Activesync your desktop mail.

The mail received remotely will be recovered in the Outlook folder of your PPC that was removed from your remote PPC account when the desktop cleared the server.

I look at it as a feature to insure that the Outlook account exclusively mirrors your desktop.

I need to check 'cause I'm not sure and I could be wrong, but I beleive if you have multiple email accounts that you are remotely accessing, they will be centrally stored in Outlook folder after activesync so long as they are being received in your desktop inbox. Again, a feature to me to have all desktop mail ultimately in a single PPC folder instead of multiple remote accounts.

My email account is POP3 at the moment. The challenge I have my mobility (no pun intended). I sync once per day to update Outlook and clear the server. In the meantime, I need to receive messages on my phone, reply to them and occasionally reference them at a later date. It is a feature supported by Blackberry phones and FlexMail.

On a positive note, however, it will keep my memory utilization to a minimum. I guess if I want to keep an email, it will have to be manually saved.

Any other opinions?

Thanks,

Jeff
