1st Post -- My new MPX220
I LOVE IT... I know this site is Aximsite, but I feel that some growth outside Axim is ok. I have already added a section for "Other PocketPCs", so I just added a single forum for smartphone and pocketpc phone edition discussions.

It seemed to me from the Mobius event I attended that the Smartphone industry is about to take off here in the US.

Anyhow, I got my 1st Smartphone last week, it is an Motorola MPx220. This is a bit different from a "Pocket PC Phone Edition" (iPaq 6315).

I too just got the MPx220 last week. I love it and have it syncing automatically to the exchange server here at work.. Amazing how easy it was to setup with exchange 2003 and always up to date notifications. I have received emails while out of the office and replied making people think that I was at my desk, only to have them find out my office is dark and I was at home or had the day off.

Have you tried to connect your X50v to it to connect to the internet. I can't get mine to complete the pairing operation and have also tried it with a V505, which didn't work either. Dell is sending me a replacement unit today. See my post here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=61702. I would be interested is hearing if yours works.

Enjoy the new phone! I know I am.

Can't say I'm a fan of Motorola (the mpx200 was truly horrible)...now if Sony Ericsson made a smartphone, I'd be all over it! They call the P910i a "smartphone", but it's not really.

Add me into the Smartphone fray. I just picked up an Audiovox SMT-5600 from AT&T yesterday. Man, this thing is small, built very well, has bluetooth, irda, mini usb port, mini SD slot and a great color screen. It charges from USB, so no more special cables. I love it!

I got my first Microsoft Smartphone a year ago, the original Orange SPV. Now I have an Audiovox SMT5600. Man the Smartphone OS has had a lot of improvements since it began. I have had the SPV, MPx200, Microsoft Developers Phone, and the SPV e200 prior to the SMT5600. The SMT blows all others out of the water. Now I just need to give the MPx220 a try.

The SMT is the same as the Orange SPV C500, right? I like it too!

Essentially it is the same phone, just some slight differences. It has the 850 Mhz band instead of the 900 Mhz because the US uses 850, and Europe uses 900. Also the SMT ROM is newer, and includes WMP10 where the C500 has WMP9.

Sort of defeats the purpose of a "pocket" PC doesn't it? hehe

Sounds like a Tablet PC might be right up your alley....
