In an attempt to avoid carrying both a pda and mobile phone I am exploring a smartphone option. Does anyone know of reviews of such, especially NOKIA 9300, or has any views of pros and cons?

Well my contact with 3 is up in a months time. They don't do any data services (beyond their own walled garden) so I'm looking for a new phone.

I'm a 2 box person though.. as i prefer to leave my PDA at home when I go out for the night. So I'm looking for something small with BT and either 3G (or GPRS). This may (or may not) be a smartphone (depending on your definition of what a smartphone is.

You will find the best listing of links to sites with smartphone info at Pocket PC Magazine:http://www.pocketpcmag.com/_top/bestsites.asp. Having gone thru the search process 6 months ago, no one or two of these sites can be singled out. A review here, an article there.

I finally, settled on Audiovox SMT 5600 (PC Magazine's "Editor's Choice" for about 8 months running). I am very please with its performance as a phone (first) and as a smartphone (second).

In trying to respond to a similiar thead elsewere on the Aximsite, I included info about the soon-to-be-announced HP iPaq hw6515 and HP iPaq hw6715 which will update/improve on the HP iPaq hw6315 which was the pioneering smartphone in a PDA (with bluetooth and wi-fi).

I had intended to return to update my posting to you, I but was interrupted. I hope you still see this in time for it to be useful since you stated in your original posting that you wanted to find an all-in-one PDA/smartphone. One of these new phones from HP may be what you seek. Besides Googling the 3 phones for additional info, check out the links in my other reply:
http://tinyurl.com/9gfkg.

P.S. If you can hold off a couple of months, Dell is rumored to be working on their own PDA/smartphone. If true, it will surely be a faster, better and cheaper "HP-Killer" like everything else they do.

Thanks for the link....

That smartphone they are working on... is it the same one they officially denied about a couple of months ago when they said they had no plans to get into the phone market

I have a Nokia 9300. I also have an Axim x50v. I got sick of trying to connect to hotspots. The 9300 web browsing experience is really nice, especially if you make the display full screen. It runs Symbian OS and Opera browser. I can not connect to some secure sites, but I haven't looked into a browser that may support that.
Also, there is a model of the 9300 that has WiFi built in if you want to cut down on your cell service web usage.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.
