I've decided to ask sismilar question as 'wogboyjoe'. What is the possibility of recovery if procedure with hard reset won't work ? Because of my stupid thinking that DELL's updatye is just new OS image and i was trying to get 2nd edition of 2003 on my axim i just forcibly updated Flash with new code. Of course my X3i never rebooted after update :(. Then i found that on very beginning boot code is checking if CPU is XScale PA27x and if it will find different CPU it won't go through POST. From other hand i know tht Axim X3 is pure XPA26x architecture but i am unsure if there is possibility of working debug connection over serial null modem cable. Does anyone of You tried this ? Does it works? Is it helpful with Flash upload to bare bone device as mine now ? By the way some nice tricks that i found during boot code disassembing (i don't know if it's realy works - my axim is dead :( ) : press and hold record button, do hard reset and Your AXIM will look for .... bootable USB device , do the same with message button and You will go straght to device diagnostics.
