Did I do an X3i downgrade ?
What's the difference between X3 and X3i ?

I just wonder because the Settings -> System Information of my X3i says

Model Dell Axim X3 (should be X3i ?)
ROM Version A00C

I did a ROM upgrade long time ago, but now I wonder if it really was an 'downgrade' ?

I have always had much trouble to make a wifi connection - could this be the reason ?

I believe the X3i has an integrated wifi card, the X3 does not. So, if you have the wireless antenna on the upper right hand corner of the device, it's an X3i. If not, it's an X3. Also, that's the orignal ROM revision. You may want to upgrade that . . .

Oh, my Axim IS an x3i for sure, but I'm not confident that the A00C 'upgrade' supports my builtin wifi ...
Think I goofed long time ago :-(

But I would like to have the device in action again.

Yes, it is an x3i. If I remeber correctly from when I had my x3i... under system settings it still said x3 even though it was an x3i. Just turn on the wifi and see if it works. But if you bought an x3i its still an x3i (upgrades can only be flashed on a specific device... unless you use the bootloader method which would brick your axim if you use the wrong rom)

"Just turn on the wifi and see if it works"

I have always had much trouble to make a wifi connection with the X3i on my job and at home.
Sometime it works and sometime it doesn't.

I have no problems with my Dell GPX260, INS8200 or my Axim X50 so I feel quite confident in wifi setup.

But you are never too old to learn from other people :-)

What's the latest ROM version for the X3i ?

If it all works, then why care what rom version you have?

One of the ROM updates permanently fixed a WiFi DHCP Problem. Well worth it if you use the wifi frequently

Thanks wooch -
if you know the version I'm sure you would have told me :-)

But I will try to switch off the DHCP just for a test.

Trust me, you'd know if you had the issue.

The most current ROM Revision for the X3i is A02, which can be found on Dell's support site in the X3 downloads section.

My Axim X3i (a00 ROM) is corrupted. I get up to the Blue Dell Logo. even after hard reset. Can I flash the A02 upgrade from the SD card?

Sorry, but I believe that your Ax must be full operational before you can do the SD flashing.
But I'm not an expert on SD rom updating, so why don't you consult the current thread dealing with this subject ...

FYI, my X3i says: X3 Rom A00C when I look at System Information. Everything works fine.
