Hmm Meican Blanket of death??

Okay I love my X3i. and even though this is the 2nd one(crashed and burned no charge) I still love it. Now I have the mexican blanket screen. Syncs great and sound but nothing on the screen but vertical lines(multicolored) I can even use the touch screen portion but shows nothing else. I can get a screen replacement kit from PDA PArts. 130 or ship it to them for 140.00. is this a dead screen or do I have a loose ribbon?
I would rather not open the thing up if I don't have to. but if the screen is dead I'll order the repalcement kit. or maybe get a new x51v.. any help would be appreciated. and if you have a new X51v 624 let me know what you think......

Love
Peace,
And chicken Grease!

Based on your description, I doubt that it's the screen. I had a similar problem with an iPaq which was still under warranty and they replaced the motherboard on the device (they didn't do anything with the screen itself). I suppose it could be a connection but I suspect it's something more significant.

I like the X51v and I've had very few problems with it. I had the 'failure to turn on' when the sd card was in place but that hasn't reoccurred since I upgraded to A04. I know some people continue to have that and other problems after A04 but I haven't installed very many 3rd party programs since I did the upgrade and those that I have are installed in ROM so the card is essentially only used for files.

I had the problem with one of my Axim's (I have had several, I am a heavy and hard user). I replaced the screen and all was well. I tried the connection and got no joy. You can get a X3* cheep on ebay with a good screen. All the X3* screens are interchangeable so get the cheepest one and change the screen out. As a bonus you get an extra battery, charger, some times a case and so on. You have to rip the thing open anyway to replace the screen.
