Activesync lockup

My Axim x3i when trying to sync with ActiveSync says looking for changes, and then eventually just locks up and doesnt respond. I even upgraded to ActiveSync 3.8 with no change. I've soft reset the Axim and rebooted PC several times to no avail.

I just bought a used X3i off of these forums & cannot get it to sync. I'm running version 3.7 from my old X5. Any advice?
