My x3i doesn't find the 256Mb SD card
I've been researching this all over the place (including talking to the people at Dell). My SD cards used to work on and off in my Axim, but ever since I had to reload the ROM, it doesn't find them. Could anyone tell me the patch number that takes care of the software issue for the SD cards? Thanks!

SD Card not recognized
Piloto73,

I'm having the same problem with my X30. It will not recognize my 512MB, or 16MB SD Card. This must me a somewhat rare problem because I can not find any helpful information anywhere on this site or on Dell.com

Please let me know if you find a solution.

Thanks.

SD card trouble...

I have the same kind of problem on my X3i. I have done all kind of soft and hard reset, and somtime I get the cards to work. The Axim (refurbished) worked fine for 7 months, then this behaviour started. It has A00C ROM and Dell support told me there was an ROM update, but that wouldn't load, telling me that it couldn't be installed on my X3i with both BT and WiFi. Anyone who have succeded upgrading the ROM on this model ??? in the battery bay it says rev. A01....

Saved my SD card...
After spending some time in this forum, I figured out how I should get my SD card working again. No ROM updates is available from Dell (A00C BT&WiFi). I found the instructions to get into the bootloader here http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...highlight=A00C
and there the card was always detected when it was in the slot, so I knew there was some kind of software problem in the ROM.
After I found this thread, i figured out that I could give it a try, all the time my Axim was useless without an SD card. Luckily I had a RIS-backup from my previous X3i (also A00C BT&WiFi, it's BIS disappeared so I got a refurbished one). I used a hex editor to change the first lines identifying the Axim in the file, and VOILA, the file could be loaded, and my Axim is back on track with the SD slot in good shape

That old RIS file was worth a lot !!! My advice to all you folks out ther, is to make a proper backup of You ROM when Your Axim's is still fully functional. Use the R80976.exe Axim Update tool to make the backup file

The important thing when You get a corrupted ROM, and need to restore a fully functionla one, is that You use the same version that You allready have in Your Axim. You just use the R80976.exe utility to restore it.

This is tested successfully on X3i, but I would guess the procedure would work fine on other models too... (I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow on my colleques X50v and will make a note on how that succeded...)

Good Luck

Is it possible to use a ROM img that was recorded from another Axim at all? I'm having the same issue but I do not have a ROM img backup to use. I've gotten my X3i up to A02 and the SD card still doesn't work in the system, but the diagnostic boot with it inserted does detect it just like you said. Does anyone know an image to restore an X3i to factory state?
