Wi-Fi Verification?
Could anyone please tell me how to verify that my wifi is actually working on my X3i. I have wireless enabled, but am unable to detect a wireless network anywhere. I have updated rom images in a hope that would help the situation. I have read thru all the wifi faq pages and havent found anything there either. I currently have 3 pc's at home running on the wireless network with no problems, just having troubles with my "used" axim from e-bay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try downloading WiFiFoFum (search the forums for a link). Your wireless may, indeed, be shot, and you might have to purchase an external WiFi card. I'm no expert, but I play one on TV.

In reguards to "pressing the button" I have pressed it ,the screen says "enable wireless" it loads up then shows signal in lower right hand corner as non-existent. I have tried refreshing the ip address ,but i believe it has to see a network of some kind in order for that to work.

is your home network a 802.11b or 802.11g the axim only uses 802.11b if your router is a 802.11g then you have to insure it can run in mixed mode which does "b" and "g"

Im using a Linksys WRT54g router, set to mixed mode operation,SSID broadcast on, no encryption of any kind, and DHCP enabled. Firmware Version: Alchemy-V1.0 v3.37.6.8sv. Also have the extended range antennas with the Xmit power @ 230mw. Transmission rate set to auto. I currently have three other PC's running on the wireless, 2 are running 802.11g and the third is running 802.11b with no problems from the other machines.

I recently downloaded WiFiFoFum to my axim and ran it, but it too was unable to locate a wireless network, here at home or at work , where we have an access point in almost every room. The structure @ work isnt running on DHCP but a few of my friends can at least see a network present on their PPC even if they cant connect to it.

One last quick note , when I enable the wireless connection on this device the light for the bluetooth is lighting up. Ive read somewhere that the WiFi light is supposed to be flashing green. Any one have any clues?

you should see the blinking green light on the left side of the wireless "bubble", next to the bluetooth light. Is it on?

I just received a repair/exchange unit from dell and everything works like a champ. I have full signal on wireless network and it connected without a hitch. Still have the blue flashing light, but Im not gonna worry about that if the thing is connecting like it should.
