Howdy,
my problem I am having is with an original axim x3 (300mhz, 32mgs RAM) 2003 first edition…
See this link, this is what I get when I turn the axim on
Several days ago I accidentally dropped my backpack on the cement with my axim in it (the axim was in the very bottom of the backpack and hit the concrete first). When I turned on the Axim the only thing it will display is what you see in the image.
A soft and hard reset did nothing. I even took the unit completely apart and re-connected all of the connectors leading to the mother board and put it back together and when I turned the device on it brought me back to the same screen. I even took it apart and took out the main battery and unplugged the backup batter from the motherboard to reset all data and that even did nothing. I have completely taken the axim apart four times, piece by piece, looking for a problem but when I put it back together it bring me back to the scrambled screen.
After I hold in the power button and push in the reset button the screen turns off and comes back on to the same image again, even though I can’t see the confirmation dialog box to do a hard reset I push the contacts button to continue on with the hard reset to erase all data. The screen again loses power and comes back on as it did in the past and comes back to the same screen. After several seconds I here the chime it makes when you do a hard reset and the setup wizard comes up. Even though the screen is all scrambled.
What I have been able to conclude is that it is apparent that there is nothing wrong with the screen it self, since every pixel lights up with a color and that I hear a chime after I do a hard reset. I think somehow I scrabbled the video processor on the mother board. I think everything ells works fine, however I have no way to test the digitalizer since I cannot get any response out of the screen. Notice in the image of the screen that it will only display only vertical lines and bars and there are no horizontal lines or bars. I don’t know if anyone can conclude what the problem is from that.
I have extensively searched other forms on the internet and have found nothing relating to my particular dilemma. Any suggestions to post this on another pocket pc form web site that might be more technical orientated would be grateful.
Any help, suggestion, or comments would be greatly appeared, as I would still like to continue to use the unit.
Thanks in advance,
Mike Hibbard
