X3 won't go pass the DELL logo
I had not used the Axim X3 for 4 weeks, when I powered it up, the battary was almost dead, so I immediately charged it in the cradle. After a few hours, the green light was on. I powered on the Axim, it acted strangey, some functions or display just froze. I soft reset it, it helped for a while but the same problem reappeared. I hard reset it several times but I only got to the blue DELL logo, I contacted DELL chat support, we went through the similar hard reset after taking out the battery for 30 seconds. It did not help and there was nothing they would do other than telling me to buy a refurnished replacement from them. Before this, I had no problem with it. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try this...
If You can get the correct ROM IMG file for Your device, You can put it on Your SD card and flash the ROM with the bootloader.
You can start this by pressing RESET, CONTACTS and SCROLL, then releasy the RESET, if You have a card with IMG installed it will flash Your unit, if the slot is empty You get into diagnostics.

You need the correct IMG file....

Good Luck

Your suggestion was excellent. Thanks a million. I followed your suggestion with the inserting the SD card. It passed the diagnostics. I was able to get the Home page. But the display froze and some functions did not appear. I am charging it in the cradle. BTW, how do you find the correct IMG and save it on the SD. The Active Sync does not work? Thanks again

Korrect img...
If You can manage to get into START:SETTINGS:SYSTEM:SYSTEM INFORMATION You can read out what ROM version You have (My Axim says A00C (01280400EN) This is the english version with BT and WiFi. I could not find img file for this version but saved my X3i with a ROM backup (RIS) from an older X3i i have had.
You have to search trough the forum and Dell to try to find a ROM update, that exe file probably have the img included. It's importatnt to get the correct one for Your Axim. I have an A04 img file, but that one is not for my model...

My ROM version is A00(09100300EN). I still do not know how to save it on the SD card even if I found it on the web.

Also when I set the date and clock, it gave a Notification error ' cannot execute CoAfter Timechange" but it did update the date and clock. how could I diagnostic this? Thanks

I think You have a corrupted ROM
It seems to me that Your ROM (system) has somehow got corrupted... If You can get Your hand on that IMG file, you simply just load it on Your SD card by using an SD-card reader on Your PC.

Good luck

Have the same troubles ...
... and no idea where i can get a image ... it's very bad that dell is unable to provide such file ... how do they repair the axims - only exchange in a new one????

Can anybody make a image of its x3i with wlan and bluetooth and send it to me??
It's no problem should it be an old one (from my side i would prefer the german version but english would be nice enough too :-))

So thanks a lot!!!

D.

ldani007, after you get a backup of such an x3i (btw i got this file somewhere if i didn't delete it.. ), you still need to edit it a little bit before flashing it - if in doubt let me know in a PM (i don't check the site often but i get notifications of PM's)
