PocketPCTechs vs PDASmart

I'm looking for anyone who has used these two companies with regard to the repair of the synch connector on the x3i. As I understand things both are good companies. What I need to know is whether or not they both replace the crappy OEM connector (just pins in a row) with the new mini-PC board with embedded pins. I live in the Florida Panhandle and am looking for the quickest turnaround time as long as I can get the new style connector. Thanks in advance for any success stories.

If you don't get a response, you might want to try and e-mail the companies asking the question. :approve:

I know PocketPC Tech will replace the pins with the new board style connector. That's at least what they e-mailed me back. Don;t know about the other company, but would like to know, too!

I used PDA Smart and they did a good job. After a few weeks I started having a problem again, talked to them and they fixed it again without any issues. I would use them again if the need arose.

I just got my x3i back from PPCTechs. I was very suprised and happy to find the board style connector as I didn't even know it was available.

Total time: 12 days

PPC Techs charged me a total of $67.86 (repair and return shipping), plus I paid shipping to them.

I'm very pleased with their service, e-mail notification upon arrival as well as shipping.

I also considered both choices, and made mine purely on cost. Sometimes you get lucky and the low bidder still gives top notch bleeding edge performance. :approve:

Wish I was so lucky with my X3i Synch connector replacement!

PPCTechs received mine on 1/9, sent an email (and charged my card) on 1/10 with the FedEx Tracking # and a delivery date of 1/15.

When it didn't arrive, I called and got the "Oh wait, it's still here on my bench..., I'll try to get it out tomorrow" story. OK, it has an issue with a bad solder pad.

Called Wednesday and "they need another day or two to make sure it's fixed"

Gave them until Friday, then called again and got "It's in shipping, and will go out tonight."

Called today and was told that it's unrepairable and they could either send it back (with a $25.00 charge + shipping) or keep it for parts, refund my $69.55, and send me a check for $40.00.

So.... I told them to keep it and issue the credit and send me a check. I guess I'd still be waiting for it if I hadn't started calling back on the 15th.
