Axim X3i Help
Well,
I've got a Dell Axim X3i and the screen looks something like this:

I found that image on this site, and when I turn my dell off, you can see the LCD is cracked and bleeding out. I've been searching and noticed they are around $150 to mail off for repairs...

My question are, is there any way of knowing if it's just the screen? I'm thinking about just getting a Pocket PC Phone, would that just be the better route?

And does anyone wanna buy this thing?

If you can get an activesync connection, you can prove if its just the screen. First of all the activesync connection will prove to you that the pocket pc is running. Second if you want to be sure, install a remote display control program. This will let you see your axims screen on the pc while connected to as. If you can see the axim's screen on the windows pc, then your axim is working pretty good.

Hey man, I have walked a couple people through screen repairs on this site, and unfortunatelly to to tell you, your screen is broken!! You can easily get the screen replaced, or you could just as easily replace it your self and greatly cut down the price!! ( i have seen some screens replaced for as low as $45) However, if your looking for a reason to upgrade, this is perfectlyt acceptable!! PM and let me know if you want to replace it or what...

Yes, if your ax lights up, then it is just your screen...

When I tried active sync, it wants the password, and to be honest, I've forgotten it because it's been so long. I would mind do a hard reset and then trying the program, will that work?

And PillagingJack PM Sent!!

It will be hard to hard reset without a working screen. You cant get a as connection until your done hard resetting. On my x50 you have to align the screen and cut/paste a sample appoinment thing. If you know how to get by this or some other way, then it would be a goood idea.

Update:

I mailed in my Axim to PDASmart.com last week, and they e-mailed me this morning saying it's the LCD and it'll be $140. They are going to fix it and send it back (they said it should be out today).

I've been using a XV6600 for awhile, and I'm loving it. I don't use the phone TOO much anymore, and I have a second cradle at work, so between here and home, it never gets near low battery.

I'll be "lending" the axim to my better half and hopefully get her using one too.

PDAsmart.com (for anyone who needs to know in the future) has a "free" inspection. you pay $8 and if it's more than the pda is worth than they just mail it back using that $8. good deal I think.
